ABOUT US

Tapestry String Quartet is a multi award winning group consisting of 4 professional musicians, all of whom originally studied at the Royal Academy of Music. They have won several prizes for their recordings but are equally at home in the concert hall or playing for corporate functions, weddings and parties.

Individuals in Tapestry have impressive résumés in their own right as they have played for all the major London Chamber and Symphony Orchestras; Academy of St. Martinís, City of London Sinfonia, English Chamber Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philharmonia and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

They have also played for hit West End shows such as "Evita", "Les Miserables", "Mary Poppins", "The Producers", "The Sound of Music" and "Wicked".

Their records have been played frequently on Jazz FM, Classic FM and Radio 3’s ‘Mixing It’ and ‘Late Night Junction’. They have also appeared on a pop video with Westlife and have performed in concert with artists ranging from the Muppets to Jennifer Lopez.

Some of the venues they have played at include: the Café Royal, the Oxford and Cambridge Club, Annabel’s, Claridges, The Ritz, The Savoy Hotel, The Dorchester Hotel, The Grosvenor Hotel, St. Stephen’s Club, Loseley House and the Blue Print Café.

Tapestry have performed concerts in several English Music Festivals such as the Aldeburgh, Bath, Brighton, Cheltenham, London Rhythm and Sticks, Ross-on-Wye International and Wakefield Arts Festivals and in most of the major London venues including The National Theatre, The Royal Festival Hall, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Purcell Room and the church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.

They have played for Product launches for companies such as Coca-Cola, for celebration parties for firms such as Ragdoll Entertainment for openings for businesses such as Toni and Guy as well as for wrap parties and film premieres, for society weddings and for royalty.

Tapestry has played in a variety of situations for themed parties, from medieval costumes in a Baronial hall, minstrel costumes in a Castle, Dickensian costumes for an old fashioned Christmas party to naval uniforms on a Battleship.

Guests have often remarked how much they enjoyed the virtuoso playing and the enthusiasm of the musicians in addition to their friendliness and charm off stage.

Tapestry have just recorded an album with the Jazz singer Ian Shaw, voted BBC Male Vocalist of the year, and have recorded the music for the soundtrack to the animated film ‘Happily N’Ever After’ made by the creators of Shrek and Shrek 2.

In February they recorded the soundtrack to the film ‘The Shell Seekers’ starring Vanessa Redgrave and Maximillian Schell, which will be shown on Television later in the year.

In May Tapestry recorded an album with Matt Willis, previously in the group Busted, one of the tracks has been used on the film "Stormbreaker".

They have also recorded a number of dance tracks with Christina Aguilera. At the end of July they recorded the new album for the boy band McFly, who have had 5 No. 1 hits, the album will be released in November.

Tapestry have also recorded an album for Water Aid, the charity helping Third World countries with drought ridden problems.

Their recording for the music of “Fingersmith” the 3 part BBC TV series still remains the best selling DVD for BBC Worldwide Enterprises, and their jazz album with Clark Tracey remains the best selling album on the Linn Record label.

In November they were the house band at the UK Hall of Fame 2006 Awards, playing for James Brown, Patti LaBelle and Joss Stone.
